Davis appointed User Experience Librarian

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Robin Davis to the position of User Experience Librarian effective 17 June 2019.

In this role, Davis will work to create intuitive, accessible, user-friendly interfaces for the web, mobile devices, and digital signs. She will develop wireframes, prototypes, and task flows based on user needs and will work with developers on their implementation. Davis will contribute to the Libraries’ user research and apply those findings to make user-centered improvements to create a consistent experience across the Libraries’ many touchpoints in both physical and online spaces. She will help the Libraries further establish visual and brand identity, develop content strategy and information architecture, and maintain a web style guide. Davis will also manage workflows for ongoing maintenance of web products and services.

Davis currently serves as Emerging Technologies & Online Learning Librarian at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY), where she has worked on the design and management of the main Lloyd Sealy Library website (lib.jjay.cuny.edu). She led the migration of the library’s website from static HTML to a responsive site powered by Drupal 7. She leads monthly web analytics meetings, conducts annual usability studies to gather student and faculty feedback, and chairs the library’s Web Committee.

Previously Davis has worked as a Research Assistant for the Data Curation Education Program in the Humanities at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and as a Web Preservation Intern at the Smithsonian Institution Archives Digital Services Division in Washington, D.C.

Davis earned a Master of Library and Information Science with a specialization in Data Curation at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an MA in Computational Linguistics at the City University of New York, and a BA in English Language and Literature with focus in Medieval and Early Modern Periods at Brown University. She received the 2017–18 PSC-CUNY Research Award and has received travel scholarships from the Early Modern Digital Agendas, the Digital Humanities Conference, and the Joint Conference on Digital Libraries.
